Every year I like to look back on what I’ve accomplished. Often we start new year’s resolutions looking at what we should change—about ourselves, in our business or work, in our relationships—but it’s important to make time to look at the wins and recognize them. To point at a specific thing and say “I did that! Go me!”
Look, they gave me gold star stickers on my homework in third grade and I never grew out of it, ok? So let’s take a look at what I wrote in 2025, what I published (there’s a lot of overlap here), and where you can find it all.
This is what a full time author’s work looks like in a year and your membership, ebook purchases, direct purchases on the website, newsletter signups, and reviews are what make it happen. I don’t have a business without you, reader. So these accomplishments are as much yours as mine. Lets celebrate!
Stats for 2025:
- 14 new titles – that’s more than 1/month!
- 126,700 new words – I’m very happy with that number. It’s a solid volume for me given my health history. My lowest year was 30k, my highest was 212k.
- Longest work: Vampire Held at 25k (coming to the paid membership in March! Are you signed up?)
- Shortest: Recipes For Disaster at 3k (bought by an anthology, publishing date tbd)
- Most new titles in a series: The Bone Witch, with 4 new shorts!

One of my goals for 2025 was to write within existing worlds as much as possible. I wanted to expand my short story series, explore new characters and events within them, and, whenever possible, create a throughline of serial storytelling, rather than just connected standalones. 11 of the 14 titles accomplished that goal! I’m very pleased with my ability to wrangle my new idea bunnies into existing worlds.
Another goal for 2025 was to finish writing most of my work for other people. All of the continuing series stories were written for other people’s projects—anthologies mostly. They’re a great way to work with and learn from other authors, but the marching series of deadlines gave me no room to play in my worlds just for me. I’m pleased to report that I’ve retired from 3 ongoing group projects!
I did adopt a new one, but on the condition that the work is for novellas in a series and that I didn’t have to write to a theme. More on that project in the future, though.
With so many projects flying around, it’s easy to miss things. Do you have a favorite series you’re following? Or did this list remind you of a story you’d like to read?
Also drop your own gold stars in the comments. What did you accomplish in 2025 that deserves a round of applause?
